Northern California Section
The Northern California Section of ITS California represents a very active and diverse set of member organizations. We produce two series of regular events:
Luncheon Workshops
Events in this bi-monthly series focus on a particular theme or technology and examines the deployment of Intelligent Transportation Solutions in California and beyond.The series is designed to attract a broad audience of transportation professionals at public agencies, private firms and research centers. A panel typically made up of four experts or program managers provides presentations, and a sizeable Q&A section follows. These events are a great way to network with panel members and peers. In addition, AICP members now earn Certification Maintenance (CM) credits for attending these workshops. ITS California members receive free admission at every luncheon workshop.
Business Breakfasts Since 2009, the Northern California Section proudly organizes the Business Breakfast series, also bi-monthly. In the past, ITS-CA members have often debated how to increase the visibility of ITS technologies among top-level decision makers. These breakfasts are designed to provide a meeting ground for local leaders and the intelligent transportation systems community. Each event features a guest speaker whose voice is influential in shaping transportation policies and investments in the state of California, and participation is limited to 8 members so that an authentic conversation can take place. Our invitees to date have included Bijan Sartipi, Director of Caltrans District 4, Nathaniel Ford, Executive Director of San Francisco's Municipal Transit Authority and Maria Ayerdi-Kaplan, Executive Director of the Transbay Joint Powers Authority. The breakfasts run weekdays from 7:30 am to 8:30 am and are exclusive to ITS California members.
In addition, members of the Northern California Section of ITS California maintain an informal network that can be activated as needed in response to opportunities of significance to our region.
