ITS California Chair
Letter to Members
Dear ITS Colleague,
ITS California continues in 2014 to lead the promotion of advanced transportation systems deployment in California. This year is shaping up to be a critical year for ITS, and ITS California will continue in our role to link technology providers and users together to achieve highly effective transportation systems. For those of you who support ITS California, thank you! For those of you new to ITS and/or ITS California, let me invite you to spend some time getting involved in 2014.
ITS California made some major achievements in 2013. We continued to hold interesting and well attended workshops in Northern and Southern California. We increased our membership, to include more public agencies, MPOs, consultants and technology providers. We held a scholarship competition and awarded our first of many scholarships. Our chapter was selected as the Outstanding State Chapter” by ITS America at their 2013 Annual Meeting, and also awarded top honors for “Membership Growth”. Topping this all off was our most successful Annual Meeting ever, where in San Diego over 300 attendees convened to network and discuss the latest in ITS.
In 2014 we expect to build on those successes. We will continue with our highly anticipated luncheons and workshops in the North and South. We will place a focus on outreach, and have already engaged policymakers on issues such as the Cap and Trade program, and on replacing LOS in transportation system planning (SB743). We have a broader and stronger leadership role in connected vehicles, whose objective is to achieve a “Connected California.” And of course, we will all get together again in the Fall, this time in the San Jose / Santa Clara area, to convene another outstanding Annual Meeting.
I would like to thank our members and our Board of Directors for their unwavering support, and look forward to broadening our membership with the types of people and thought leadership that have made ITS California so successful. I look forward to a great year!
Chair, Board of Directors
