Welcome to the Intelligent TransportationSociety of California
|
Dear ITS Professional, As Chair of the ITS California Board of Directors, I thank you for your interest in ITS California where the public and private sector meet to exchange ideas, information and experiences in order to progress the deployment and use of Intelligent Transportation Systems throughout California. As a group, our membership represents the ITS sector in California, covering academia, government and industry. ITS California presents regular opportunities to network throughout California culminating in an Annual meeting which will take place in 2010 in Northern California following a highly successful 2009 meeting in Anaheim. Monthly activities are organized by the Northern and Southern Sections which, led by the respective Vice-Chairs of the Board, organize local, lunch-time workshops on various ITS topics, covering institutional, operational and technology issues. These are well-attended by both the public and private sector and have proven to provide a unique forum for ITS related issues that are not addressed by other professional organizations. In 2009, the Northern Section initiated breakfast meetings, offering members the opportunity to meet key industry figures. The opportunity for the public sector to showcase products and services is provided by the ITS California Annual Meeting. Located in Anaheim Stadium, the baseball-themed 2009 meeting attracted over 300 ITS professionals. Technical sessions ranged from transit safety, through web-based traveler information delivery to new technologies for parking systems. A special workshop brought together the FHWA, Caltrans, MPO’s, local government and national firms to debate the merits of expanding Title 21, which specifies toll tag technologies for use in California, to embrace new emerging standards as an aid to IntelliDriveSM deployment in the State. I invite you to join us, to hear new ideas and have others hear your ideas. It is our goal to bring high value, information and networking to every member of ITS California. You can join this growing organization by clicking the “Join ITS-CA” button within the “Membership” tab of this website. Membership dues have been restructured for 2010 to encourage smaller local agencies and firms to join.
Finally, if you are a member of ITS California, I thank you for your support and invite you to contact me and/or other members of the Board of Director with comments, ideas and suggestions for ITS California to best represent you.
Alan Clelland Chair, ITS California Board of Directors
